Student-athletes Honored at Annual Awards Banquet
More than 150 student-athletes and coaches attended the annual ESF Athletics Banquet April 11.
The banquet was also attended by President Quentin Wheeler and Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs Anne Lombard. Each team named its most valuable and most improved players along with recognizing our coaches including John View, Scott Blair and Dan Ramin for receiving conference coach of the year awards. Receiving special recognition for his contributions to the athletics program was John View, who recently retired as head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track teams.
There was much to celebrate this past year in ESF athletics. The women's soccer team made it to the national championship game. The men's soccer team qualified for the national tournament for the first time in four years. The men's basketball team finished its best season in program history and qualified for postseason play for the second straight year. The bass fishing team qualified for a national tournament. Several individual records were set by members of the cross-country and track teams. In addition, more than 30 student-athletes were named academic and athletic All-Americans.
A special thanks to the ESF Alumni Office and Centennial Hall for their generous support of ESF Athletics.
