Mighty Oaks Basketball Team Set for 2016 Season

Last season, the team finished with an 8-13 overall record — 4-3 in conference play — and qualified for its first post-season tournament.

Leading the Mighty Oaks this season will be senior forward Ryan Caldwell (Liverpool, New York). Last season, Caldwell averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game. He received USCAA All-American honorable mention and Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) All-Conference honors. Senior Dan Treadwell (Chenango Fork, New York , 8.2ppg, 2.4spg) will lead the team at point guard. The team expects strong contributions from senior Jared Bard (Auburn, New York) junior center Tyler Kuhn (Oneida, New York) and sophomore guards Justin VanDuLuitgaarden (Oneida, New York) and Andrew Koch (Syracuse, New York).  Leading a strong group of new Mighty Oaks is transfer guard Cory Rogers (Brewerton, New York sophomore point guard David Loewen (Binghamton, New York) and freshman center Ben Russ IV (Rochester, New York). 

The team opens its 2016-17 season at home against rival SUNY Broome Nov. 5. The Mighty Oaks will renew their rivalry against Paul Smiths College Nov. 13.

The team will then play several non-conference games highlighted by a visit to the Penn State Worthington Scranton Tip-Off tournament Nov. 18 and 19, a match against Penn State Wilkes-Barre and on the road at Cazenovia College Nov. 28. ESF will begin HVIAC play Jan. 14 at home agaisnt Culinary Institute of America. The season will culminate at the HVIAC tournament Feb. 18 and 19, hosted by the College of New Rochelle.

"This has been a really committed group to coach to this point in the season. They are very eager, hardworking and coachable, and we look forward to putting a product on the court that the college and our fans can be proud of" said Head Coach Scott Blair.
