ESF Slumps in Second Half, Lose to Williamson College

As far as first halves go, Sunday's for Williamson was one the Mechanics would just as soon forget. They shot a paltry 33 percent from the floor, turned the ball over seven times and committed 11 fouls, in trailing SUNY-ESF 34-28 at the break.

As far as second halves go however, Williamson had one they would just as soon would repeat as they held the Mighty Oaks without a single point for over ten minutes to start the half, and just 14 for the entire half, while outscoring them 35-14 to come away with the triumph.

"It wasn't pretty in the first half but our intensity level picked up and that was the key for us in the second," stated Williamson head coach Bill Michaels. "Once our defense picked up, our offense did as well. It was a true team effort."

A team effort indeed, as six Williamson players had nine or more points. Nazir Goldston (FR/Pottsgrove PA) had 13, Ryan Tobin (JR/Newtown Square, PA) 11 and Gus Pagan (JR/Prospect Park, PA) added 10 for the Mechanics. Kyree Freeman (JR/Glenarden, MD) had a big game helping out his teammates as he dished out a game high 10 assists.

For the Mighty Oaks, junior guard Justin VanDuLuitgaarden had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Henry Pflaumer chipped in nine points.

The win extends Williamson's winning streak to four and even's their record at 6-6. They will try to stretch that streak to five on Tuesday night as they travel to Lehigh Carbon Community College in a 8:00 P.M. start. ESF falls to 2-6 overall and is back in action Dec. 18 vs Central Penn.
