Men’s Basketball Team Go 1-1 at the USCAA Challenge

The Mighty Oaks men's basketball season got underway with a 62-54 win over the hosts, Paul Smith's College, at the USCAA Challenge held at Paul Smith's College Nov. 2-3.

Despite finding themselves down 11-2 early in the game, ESF found its groove and controlled the rest of the game. Junior Zac Dormer led ESF with 20 points, which included scoring eight straight points early in the second half to build ESF's lead. Sophomore Logan Ameele added 14 points and five steals while freshman Matt McFarland chipped in nine points off three three-pointers.

In the next game, ESF faced Villa Maria College who defeated Bryant and Stratton – Albany the previous night. The Vikings, who finished in third place at the 2019 USCAA National Championships, overwhelmed the Mighty Oaks 102-79.

Junior Cole Paradies led ESF with a double-double, 21 points and 12 rebounds. Dormer scored 18 points. Ameele added 11 points in the effort.

ESF will face Penn State – Scranton on Nov. 5 in Scranton, PA.
