Men's Soccer Team Picks up Conference Win vs Culinary Institute; Loses to Bryant & Stratton - Syracuse

On the soccer pitch, the men's team took on HVIAC foe Culinary Institute Oct. 2 and came away with a 5-0 win over the Steels. The Mighty Oaks had a huge first half, scoring four goals and easily putting the game out of reach for Culinary Institute. Scoring goals for ESF were sophomore Geoff Golick (23rd minute), junior Zack Reda (25th minute), junior Owen Hennigan (33rd minute, assisted by Chris Peretti), junior Joe Marino (38th minute, assisted by Hennigan) and Jorge Guarin (65th minute). The men were back on the field the following day in a non-conference match against their crosstown rivals. the Bobcats of Bryant and Stratton-Syracuse. The Bobcats are ranked eighth nationally by the USCAA. The Bobcats lived up to their ranking with a 2-0 win over ESF. Despite allowing two goals in the first half, the Mighty Oaks fought hard against a talented Bobcats squad. Sophomore goalkeeper Cameron Schiavone had seven saves for ESF. The men's soccer team record is now 5-5 overall, 4-1 in HVIAC play. The men will play again against Paul Smith's College in the annual Barkeater Cup Oct. 9.
