Bio

Mike Melfi was appointed the Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track Head Coach in 2017.

Melfi has coached at Jamesville-Dewitt Central School District the past 10 years. During that period, Melfi guided several teams and individuals to sectional titles. Coach Melfi also heads up the JD and Syracuse City Youth Track/XC Summer Camps.

Melfi is a graduate of Henninger High School and competed as a student-athlete at Division I Marist College, where he was named the 1999 Sportsmen of the Year. Coach Melfi is widely known in the local running community. As a competitive runner, coach Melfi has won numerous road races throughout Upstate New York. He won the Syracuse Chase Corporate Challenge four times and still holds the course record. In 2000, he was named the Road Runner Club of America (RRCA) Runner of the Year. He recently won the 2016 Upstate Cross Country Masters Series.

Coach Melfi works as a special education teacher in the Jamesville-Dewitt school district. He received his bachelors in psychology/special education from Marist College and a masters in literacy from Syracuse University.

Coach Melfi resides in Clay with his wife Keri and their two children Dante and Gianna.
