Women's Soccer Knocks Off No. 1 Ranked SUNY Delhi

The women's team ended its weekend doubleheader on a high note, defeating No. 1-ranked SUNY Delhi, 1-0, in overtime. The Broncos came in with a 9-0 record, averaging more than three goals per game. The Mighty Oaks defense clamped down on the Broncos throughout the game. After a grinding 90 minutes of action, junior Marissa Hughes drew a penalty in the Broncos' box midway through the overtime period. Hughes converted the penalty kick, giving ESF a 1-0 win.

"I'm very proud of the women not only for the outcome of the game, but more importantly, for how they've played. All season long, we have been pushing to fully understand the potential this team has when all the pieces are put together and today was the first time we had all of those pieces. It was a full team effort today" said Head Coach Adam Scalisi.

The women were defeated by Alfred State the previous night 3-0. The team's record now stands at 4-4 overall. The squad travels to Brooklyn, New York, Oct. 14, to face HVIAC opponent Pratt Institute.
