Women’s Cross Country Finish First at SUNY Poly

The defending USCAA cross country national champions started the season with a first place overall finish at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invite held on Aug. 31.

Abby Perez, a freshman from Queens, N.Y., made a huge first impression, finishing second overall in her first ever collegiate race. Perez finished the 4K race with a time of 17:16. Junior Julie Romano finished third overall with a time of 17:34 while senior Erin Cocca rounded off the top five with a fifth place finish and a time of 17:59. Also scoring for ESF was sophomore Cassidy Engleson (10th – 18:19) and junior Tabby Wechter (11th – 18:23).

Riley Poisson from William Smith finished first overall. The invitational featured ten division III schools.

The team is back in action Sept. 21 at the Roberts Wesleyan Invite.
