Men's Basketball Season Recap

Men's Basketball Season Recap

(Recap provided by head coach John D'Antonio)

The 2019-2020 was  a successful one for the SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks Basketball team once again.  WE showed some great growth both and and off the court this year.  The basketball team qualified for the conference tournament for the first time in 4 years losing a heart breaker to Berkeley College in the first round. We also helped our community this year by volunteering to work with K-2 students at Truxton Academy Charter School showing that it is cool to be an athlete and enjoy the environment at the same time.

Zach Dormer and Henry Pflaummer were named co-mvp's of the team. Zac was a HVIAC all conference selection leading our team in scoring and steals.  Zach was named to the HVIAC honorable mention weekly team 3 times.  He had an outstanding year scoring by improving his shooting from the outside.

Henry Pflaummer lead our team in assists and also played the most minutes.  Henry had the toughest job on the floor by being the point guard and handling other teams relentless pressure.  Henry hit a season high 7 three pointers in our conference playoff game.  Zach and Henry were also part of the leadership on the team and helped us improve our chemistry and grow everyday.

Steven Nemec was a senior who joined our team this season.  He lead our team in charges and worked hard every single day.  Last year Steven "volunteered" at a couple practices, but this year joined the team full time and did an excellent job.

Harrison Cox was a senior playing his first season of basketball.  Harrison was an outstanding addition to our team by helping keep things upbeat and positive.  Harrison was an important part of the team as he really challenged our team in practice everyday while making it fun at the same time.

James Squier was our only senior to play all 4 years.  James lead the HVIAC in 3 point percentage.  James is a great man.  He worked hard all the time, was a tremendous leader, and was a great ambassador for our program.  James is truly one of the most likeable people around.  Throughout his years his contributions to our program will be missed a ton.
