Multiple School Records Fall at The Last 2 Track Meets

The track teams competed at Utica University on April 13th and then again at SUNY Cortland on April 19th. 3 school records went down at Utica. Senior Colin Flannery took down a 10-year-old school record in the 3000-meter Steeple Chase. His time of 10:20.52 was just 2 seconds better than the 2015 time by Peter DeLuc. Also, at that meet, junior Hayden Bregg continued his successful track campaign by achieving 2 school records. He took down the 400m record in 51.08 and the 200m record in 23.38. Bregg also was the overall winner in the 400.

The following week at the CORTLAND CLASSIC, the women's 4x800m relay smashed the previous record set in 2023 by 35 seconds. The relay finished second in the race only a few seconds off the winning team, Cortland.

At both meets, members of the team saw multiple personal records go down as well.

Coach Melfi's Comments
We have been dealing with a number of weather issues with both practices and meets. Our first 3 meets all had change of dates due to weather. As a result, some could not attend and compete. However, we have all been incredibly flexible. It has been amazing to see our team adapt, change and roll with the changes. Almost everyone on our team has hit some form of personal record this outdoor track season. We have achieved 6 new school records during this outdoor season. We now set our sights to the USCAA National Track and Field Championship in Springfield, MA on April 26. Our women won last year while the men were the runner up. I think we have an even stronger team this year and we will be ready!
