Men's and Women's Cross Country teams each win invites
On September 3rd, the men and women cross country teams competed at the Frank Dillon Memorial Invitational hosted by LeMoyne College. The men took first place beating host LeMoyne, Daemen (both are NCAA Division 2 schools), SUNY Oswego, SUNY Broome, Morrisville and OCC. Senior Matthew Tripp won the 6k race in 20:11. The women finished 2nd just behind Daeman. Junior Bryce Hopper led the ladies with an 11th place finish.
The next weekend, both teams competed at the SUNY Oswego Invite. The women won the meet by just 1 point to Oneonta and taking down SUNY Oswego and Plattsburgh. First year Katie Richardson finished 5th overall to lead the Oaks. On the mens side, it was Senior Matthew Tripp who led the Oaks to 4th place finish. Matthrew finished 3rd overall.
Coach Melfi's comments: These first 2 meets really gives us more data as to who we are and what we can be. To win a team title at an invitational is no easy task. We really haven't even got into some of the main workouts of the season, and that is exciting to think about!
