Mike Woods Invite hosted by SUNY Geneseo
On October 1st, the xc teams competed in the Mike Woods Invite hosted by SUNY Geneseo. This super competitive meet attracted teams from more than 7 states. The men's field featured over 350 runners while the women's field had over 250. The men finished 18th out of 24 teams and the women finished 14th out of 20 teams. First year Savannah Kuhr led the ladies with a time of 24:58 (6k) while senior Matthew Tripp led the men 26:06 (8k) good enough for the 7th fastest in ESF history. Tripp now owns the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th best 8k's on the ESF all-time (8k) leader board.
Coach Melfi's Comments
We definitely went into this meet with the "sick bug" hitting our team. Many were just getting over colds while others were starting. We got through it and had respectable performances. We are looking forward to a much needed weekend off from racing as we prepare for the Canisius Alumni Classic on October 15th. The team is very excited about another high level competitive field that will feature a lightening quick course at Delaware Park in Buffalo, NY.
