Cross Country Competes at the Canisius College Alumni Classic

The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Delaware Park in Buffalo, New York to compete at the Canisius College Alumni Classic on Saturday October 14th. This was the first meet for them in 3 weeks. The meet consisted of 13 teams, mainly NCAA division 1 institutions. The men were the first non NCAA Division 1 team to finish (7th place overall). The women who were not running a few of their top runners, placed 9th in the team standings.

Leading the way for the Mighty Oaks was Sean Dristle who placed 21st overall with a time of 25:36, which is the 2nd fasted (8k) time in school history. He was followed by Ryan King who placed 51st overall with a time of 27:17. The women were once again led by Savannah Kuhr who placed 16th overall (good enough the receive an individual award) with a time of 19:01 (5k). Aubrianna DeLario-Brown was 2nd in for the Mighty Oaks in 62nd place, 20:52 (5k).

"Despite not racing in 3 weeks, we had 20 personal records. We had 38 travel so over half the team set pr's. The conditions were cold and rainy, but we battled really well. We need to get healthy on the women's side as nationals is just 4 weeks away. Fortunately, we have depth, but it's tough seeing some of our top runners sit and not compete" Coach Melfi said.

Next up for the Mighty Oaks, a trip to Hamilton College on Saturday October 21st for a final tune up before the USCAA XC Nationals (on November 12th).
