Mighty Oaks Win Penn State-Scranton Tip Off Tournament

The Mighty Oaks Basketball team came home with some silverware after winning the Penn State-Scranton Tournamenet. The week started with a win against Penn State-Scranton that ended 89-78. The three starting sophmores Matt McFarland, Reid Patchett and Christian Rossi all had outstanding performances. McFarland had 16 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Patchett got 28 points and 6 assists for the Oaks. And Rossi scored 26, and had 10 rebounds.

On tueday the Oaks fought hard to complete their second win over Bryant and Stratton-Syracuse, 70-62. McFarland had 25 points from 9-of-16 and 9 rebounds. Patchett had 14 points and 6 rebounds. And Rossi had 16 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.

At the end of tournament, Patchett earned the tournament MVP and Rossi joined the all tournament team.

Following the great performances of the Oaks last week, McFarland was named the USCAA and HVIAC Men's Basketball Player of the week. He averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Rossi was named the HVIAC Rookie of the Week for averaging 21 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists.

The Mighty Oaks take on Jefferson Community College this Thursday while hoping to stay on their winning ways.
