Women's Soccer Repeat As HVIAC Champions

For the seventh time in eight years, the Mighty Oaks women's soccer team won the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship (HVIAC). The #1 tournament seed faced a talented #2 seeded Five Town College.

The Mighty Oaks struck first with an unassisted goal by Ryan Hesch giving ESF a 1-0 lead over the Sound. As the first half came to a close, Abby Neill would find the foot of Hesch, giving ESF a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead.

Second-half scoring came from a solo goal scored by Jessica Bolton assisted by Neill around the 73:00 minute of play and would be the final goal scored in an ESF 3-0 victory. Five Towns College Goalie, Jordan Tobin warded off a deluge of shorts. The Mighty Oaks attempted 37 shots and 12 on goal, Tobin saved nine while only allowing three.

The Mighty Oaks Neill was named Tournament MVP.

Head Coach Mandy Olinski said how proud she was of her team. "The Mighty Oaks dominated possession and played well considering Five Towns tactics that consisted of sitting the whole team behind the ball in an effort to block any goals. I'm proud of our postseason efforts so far and we are excited to be back at the USCAA National Championship next week in Virginia Beach!"

ESF will wait for an at-large bid for this year's USCAA National Soccer Tournament in Mid-November. The Mighty Oaks won the USCAA National title in 2021.
