ESF Women Win the 2024 USCAA Track and Field National Championship, Men Finish As Runner Up

The USCAA National Track and Field Championship took place in Springfield, MA at American International University on April 26-27. The ESF women scored 156 points to easily outdistance Carlow (98) and Maine-Fort Kent (89) en route to winning the 2024 USCAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. Host Hampshire College was fourth with 78.5 points and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was fifth with 73.5 points in the 14-team field. ESF had first place finishes from Aubrianna DeLario-Brown in the 400 meters (1:01.09), Savannah Kuhr in the 800 (2:27.80) and 1500 (5:12.59), Bryce Hopper in the 5000 meters (20:05.47) and 10,000 meters (43:23.49) and the 4x400 relay (4:27.91).

The men finished second in the team scoring and had many first place finishes.  They won the men’s 4x400 relay (3:36.00). Senior Sean Dristle wrapped up his amazing career for the Mighty Oaks with three first place finishes 800 (2:01.59), 1500 (4:06.93) and 5000 meters (16:03.19).

“This has been in the making for a few years now as we have increased our participation in track nicely each season. Despite not having 1 entry in the field events for both men and women, we were still able to go home with a championship and runner up trophy. The dedication the team has put into their training, details and overall balance of rigor academic demands and running has been incredible to see,” said head coach, Mike Melfi.
