Mighty Oaks Win the Open Race at Border Battle

The men's and women's cross-country teams traveled to New Jersey on Oct. 16 to compete in the open races at the Border Battle hosted by Rowan University.

First-year Bryce Hopper notched her second invitational win of the season winning by over 30 seconds to lead her team to a second-place finish behind Johns Hopkins. The women ran against a field of 16 other teams.

On the men's side, graduate student Matt Frame and sophomore Matt Tripp finished second and third, respectively. The men's team finished fourth out of 24 teams.

"It was brutally hot down there at race time, but it was a great experience to race somewhere new and against many Mid-Atlantic schools! Because we had the top finishers in both races, many people came up to us asking where ESF was and wanted to know what ESF stood for," said Coach Mike Melfi.
